The U.S.Chess League starts its 2010 season on Monday, Aug.23! And the Arizona Scorpions will have their first match against the Miami Sharks on Wednesday, Aug. 25; starting at 6 p.m. MST, live on ICC.
The Scorpions face a tough 10 week schedule this year, including two expansion teams: Los Angeles Vibe and the St. Louis Arch Bishops. And the Arch Bishops feature GMs Hikaru Nakamura and Yury Shulman at the top of the roster! Playing without any GM to top the roster this year, the Scorpions will be looking to sting opponents with their number 3 & 4 boards. With the strong Rensch and Adamson on board 3 and a host of quickly improving youngsters for board 4 (Adelberg, Thompson, Gurczak and Mateer) the outlook for the Scorpions is bright! With a lot of enthusiasm and a little luck the Scorpions could find them selves once again in the Playoffs come November.
